On Monday, 5th April, a doctor was detected with the UK variant of Coronavirus in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
The Delhi-based National Centre for Disease Control detected the presence of variants in the samples of the patient with COVID-19 infection, which were taken a few days ago.
Earlier, the UK variant was found in the neighboring state of Punjab, while this became the first such reported case in Himachal Pradesh. On Monday, there were 6 COVID-19 infection-related deaths in the state, comprising of one in each district of Kangra, Sirmaur, and Mandi, and three in the Una district.
All the 6 people were males ranging between 51 and 95 years of age.
On the same day, 567 fresh COVID-19 infections were reported in the state, while 268 patients got recovered from the infection. Presently there are 3,828 active COVID-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh, and a total of 1,063 people have died in the state from the infection since the pandemic began.
